Free Workshops Offered at Greenham Business Park in Support of the Outdoor Arts Events Programme

Greenham Common Trust is working with the Corn Exchange to bring a range of spectacular theatrical events to Newbury.

The Trust helps sponsor a popular annual outdoor arts events pro-gramme, and donates £86,000 to the cause. As part of that programme, there is a new event coming to Newbury for the Bank Holiday weekend, called The People’s Tower.

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, a giant replica of Donnington Castle will be built in the town centre – entirely from cardboard boxes.

Free workshops are running this weekend, in Building 101, the dedicat-ed outdoor arts creation space run by the Corn Exchange at Greenham Business Park. The workshops are for anyone aged 9 or over but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Workshops are running on:
•   Wednesday, May 25, 12pm and 5pm
•   Thursday, May 26, 12pm and 5pm
•   Friday, May 27, 12pm and 7pm
•   Saturday, May 28, 10am and 2pm

 The tower will be fully built on Sunday, May 29 and there will be a chance to demolish it from 4pm on Monday, May 30.

The GCT funding will continue to go towards a full summer programme of large and small events which will entertain local residents, and attract people to the town.
