Greenham Common Trust helps fund free festival of light in Newbury
Join hundreds of families in this year’s Festival of Light lantern procession which is fast becoming a much loved tradition in the town.
Thanks to funding from Greenham Common Trust, and Arts Council England, the Festival of Light has become a regular part of the festive calendar for the last six years, and is organised by The Corn Exchange.
Families are invited to take part and make their own lanterns, or line the street as the community gathers to celebrate this spectacular visual event.
The winter lantern festival takes place on Sunday, December 13. The lantern bearers will meet and light their lamps at 4pm with the procession of light starting at 4.30pm in Northbrook Street, and parading to Market Place in the centre of Newbury.
Simply come along to the free festival and enjoy the community spirit and atmosphere as hundreds of people carry their lights through the streets of Newbury.
Greenham Common Trust’s Projects and Communications Manager, Julian May said “The Trust is delighted to support the Festival of Light as part of Newbury Corn Exchange’s outdoor events programme and create this opportunity for community involvement in the build up to the festive season. We love that the Festival of Light is becoming a real tradition, and look forward to helping with next year’s preparations.”
