British Red Cross - £12,000

Greenham Common Trust has awarded British Red Cross £12,000 towards the purchase of a new 4x4 Landrover ambulance for West Berkshire.
The new vehicle will replace the existing 4x4 ambulance that is no longer fit for purpose and will be manned by trained Red Cross volunteers who have served communities in and around Newbury for many years. A new vehicle will strengthen our capacity to respond immediately and effectively to emergencies.
In an emergency the 4x4 Landrover ambulance, with skilled volunteers, will act as a focal point where survivors affected by the emergency can access support, care and advice. A fully equipped ambulance will also make Red Cross available to assist the emergency services in the movement of individuals affected by the incident to rest centres or hospitals.

The new 4X4 Landrover ambulance will be equipped with snorkel facilities for deep water access and provide emergency response to aid local communities in times of flooding when people are extremely vulnerable and distraught.
The vehicle has been in active use since 2009.
