8 - 12 year olds were given the chance to get closer to nature during the summer of 2002 thanks to a grant of £500 from the Trust.

Three week-long activity camps were organised at Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre and other countryside sites such as Greenham and Snelsmore Commons. The camps offered the chance to learn about the local environment with a variety of trained professionals, including artists, craft workers, countryside rangers and outdoor activity leaders.

Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre aims to foster an appreciation and understanding of our local natural heritage, to provide a focus for environmental education and to contribute to local Agenda 21 initiatives.
