Free Bus Service launched
Greenham Common Trust and Newbury buses have launched a free bus service for travellers between New Greenham Park and Newbury town centre. With its distinctive livery the New Greenham Park shuttle bus offers a twenty-minute service to and from Newbury along a route that includes Newbury Hospital and Newbury College. The new bus compliments the existing 32 and 32A services that run between Newbury and Basingstoke bus stations, via New Greenham Park. In addition to staff employed at New Greenham Park, the free service is also available to the estimated 350 daily visitors and customers who travel to the site. > Chief Executive of Greenham Common Trust, Stuart Tagg says: "Since our Green Transport Plan was published in December 2000, we have implemented a number of initiatives aimed at reducing car dependence and changing the travel patterns of staff and visitors to the park. With around 75% of employees at New Greenham Park living in the Newbury area, the shuttle bus will allow a large number to travel to and from work free of charge." The free service is restricted to those travelling to and from New Greenham Park on the 3A, 3B and 3C services.
