Trust Announces Grant Aid Recipients for 2006

Greenham Common Trust has announced the names of the 59 local organisations and projects that have been awarded one of the Trust’s Standard Awards for 2006, each of which will receive a share of the £100,000 that was made available for distribution.

The list of successful applicants includes those selected by the Trust's Youth Distribution Committee (YDC), which is made up of teenagers from local schools and makes recommendations to the Trust’s full Distribution Committee.

This year’s successful applications include HADCAF (Hungerford and District Craft and Arts Festival), Bishop's Green Youth Project, Kingsclere Primary School, Newbury Carnival, Newbury YoungStars, Playmates Pre-School (Thatcham) and Woolton Hill Argyle Football Club.

Projects selected by the YDC include Greenham After School Club, Kintbury Coronation Village Hall, and the Newbury Family Contact Centre.

Glenn Clarkson, Chairman of the Trust's Distribution Committee, says “Once again, through the Trust's management of its investment in New Greenham Park, we have been able to increase the level of funding and fund a number of applications in full. The success of the business park is also allowing the Trust to expand its annual awards scheme with the ‘Greenham Gift’, that will provide a total of £50,000 for a single local project which will be chosen by readers of the Newbury Weekly News.”

The Distribution Committee will meet again later this month to discuss the applications made for its Major Awards (£10,000 and over) which will total £80,000.
