Racegoers at Newbury Racecourse last Friday were treated to a taste of nineteenth century Paris with the appearance of two characters from La Bohème, the much loved opera by Puccini, which will be performed at the racecourse on the 30th June.

Next month’s open air performance will be performed by Opera Box and one of the company’s rising stars, the soprano Kat Bagshawe, along with Andrew Barber from Greenham Common Trust attended last week’s race meeting in full costume to give racegoers a taste of what can be expected on the night.

The open air opera is being promoted by Greenham Common Trust in partnership with the Newbury Weekly News and Newbury Racecourse to make professional opera affordable and accessible to the whole community and will take place in front of the racecourse’s main grandstand. Those attending are invited to bring a picnic or enjoy the refreshments available on the night.

Tickets for the opera are available from the Newbury Corn Exchange box office at only £6 each (£3 for discounts).
