Greenham Common Trust announces
standard grant awards for 2003

The Greenham Common Trust Distribution Committee has announced the names of the organisations that have been successful in their application for the Trust's 2003 Standard Awards.

At a meeting on the 27th May all the applications were considered and discussed thoroughly with a decision taken on those that the Distribution Committee felt most merited an award. The total sum of the Standard Awards being made to charities and community projects in Hampshire and West Berkshire in 2003 is £70,000.

The Committee had previously received the recommendations of the Youth Distribution Committee that met for the first time on 6th May. The Youth Distribution Committee was formed this year to make recommendations concerning the allocation of charitable awards totalling £10,000. Before making its recommendations the members of the Youth Distribution Committee considered all 60 applications received by the Trust for awards of under £2,000.

Newly elected Chairman of the Greenham Common Trust's Distribution Committee, Glenn Clarkson says: "Income received from the Trust's management of New Greenham Park has enabled an increase to the charitable awards in 2003. The establishment of the Youth Distribution Committee means that the allocation of funds has been overseen by a broad cross section of the local community, across a spectrum of age groups."

Chief Executive of Greenham Common Trust, Stuart Tagg says: "The generation of income to allow charitable awards is central to the Trust's existence. The success of the business park and our record of supporting and encouraging new businesses will enable us to make a significant contribution to the prosperity of the wider community for generations to come."
