West Berkshire Partnership and Greenham Common Trust Announce Recipients of Spring Funding
The West Berkshire Partnership and Greenham Common Trust have announced the names of the organisations that are to receive funding through the spring round of the organisations' combined grant-aid programme. A total of £251,189 will be distributed between 98 community based projects and organisations following meetings of the Greenham Common Trust's Youth Distribution Committee (YDC) and the full distribution committees of the West Berkshire Partnership and the Trust. The organisations that are to receive funding include: Ecchinswell Village Hall, which is to receive money to fund the reformation of playing fields for cricket and football by local people, the local division of the British Red Cross to fund the acquisition of a 4x4 Landrover ambulance with off-road capabilities and The Bruce Trust to provide funding towards the cost of a new purpose-built, specially designed six berth boat. Graham Pask, Chairman of the West Berkshire Partnership, says: This is another example of how partnership working can identify how local communities can best benefit from grant aid. In this respect, the West Berkshire Partnership and Greenham Common Trust are going from strength to strength. Glenn Clarkson, Chairman of Greenham Common Trust's Distribution Committee, comments: The combined distribution programme between the West Berkshire Partnership and ourselves has vastly increased the efficiency of the grant-aid process in West Berkshire and means that more social and environmental projects are able to benefit from government funding and from the money the Trust generates through its ownership and management of New Greenham Park. The Trust's Youth Distribution Committee is formed of students from secondary schools in West Berkshire. Commenting on its recommendation Clarkson adds: The members of the YDC make an important contribution to the overall funding process with responsibility for the allocation of £10,000. Once again they have shown great maturity in reaching their joint decisions. We are very grateful to its members and their schools for their time and commitment.
