Greenham Common Trust announces Charitable Awards for 2003

Local people benefit from the Trust's grant aid

Greenham Common Trust has announced an increase in its annual charitable awards for 2003 and has given details of the involvement of local youngsters in the distribution process.

The Trust has invited local secondary schools to provide representatives for a new "Youth Distribution Committee" who will make recommendations to the full distribution committee, regarding the allocation of awards totalling £10,000 to be made to local projects and charities. The Youth Distribution Committee will comprise twelve local teenagers and will be asked to consider all applications received by the Trust for awards of under £2,000.

The Trust's awards in 2003 will total £140,000 and will be divided as follows:

£70,000 Standard Awards (under £10,000) including £10,000 to be allocated by the Youth Distribution Committee
£40,000 Major Awards (over £10,000)
£30,000 Berkshire Community Foundation

Chairman of the Greenham Common Trust's distribution committee, Tony Ferguson says: "The Trust's careful management of New Greenham Park has enabled us to increase this year's charitable awards. The establishment of the Youth Distribution Committee means that the allocation of funds will be overseen by a broader cross section of the local community across a spectrum of age groups."
