Trust enables the resumption of horticultural therapy at Cottismore Nursery, Kingsclere
Greenham Common Trust has purchased the site of Cottismore Nursery, Newbury Road, Kingsclere. Part of the six-acre site was previously used by the Horticultural Therapy project organised and supported by West Berkshire Council, which had to be suspended because the users were unable to get any security of tenure. The purchase of the site by the Trust will allow the horticultural therapy activities to recommence. There are no plans to change the current use of the site. Stuart Tagg, Chief Executive of Greenham Common Trust, said: Our purchase will secure the long-term future of the Horticultural Therapy project which has provided help and support for local people with learning difficulties and mental health problems. Joe Mooney, West Berkshire's Executive Councillor for Community Care, added, This is excellent news. The Horticultural Therapy project has been sorely missed. It gives people the opportunity to experience a working environment, learn a skill and to meet new friends. Above all, it enables people to be independent and make a real contribution to both the community and the local economy. Thanks to Greenham Common Trust, we can once again provide this service.
