'THE GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT' by Joe Orton The Box Theatre Company
Stop one moment everybody. This is George. Do any of us remember him? George retired recently after - how long, George? Mrs Vealfoy, Personnel Manager.
George Buchanan, the firm's oldest living employee, is looking forward to a peaceful retirement, but fate has other plans. Revelations from a cleaning lady force him to re-evaluate his existence. In typical Orton fashion, this one act play strikes a forceful blow at the establishment. A savage study of the disintegration of a man, whose enduring allegiance to a sterile company has brought him little in terms of reward. We are also reminded, however, that life may have a surprise in store, and with history come consequences.
