ROAD by Jim Cartwright The Rep College
Under the guidance of the rum-soaked wideboy Scullery, we were taken on an evening's tour of a scruffy, depressed road in a small Lancashire town. This was a sharp, sad, funny and angry piece.
This, Jim Cartwrights's first play, was commissioned by the Royal Court Theatre and had its first performance in 1986. The play won a number of awards and was also adapted for the BBC.
