BEN ELTON

Ben Elton came to New Greenham Arts for a one-off warm up date for his first tour in 8 years.

After taking time out of stand up to write hit musicals such as ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Tonight's the Night’ he returned to the stage with his signature brand of energetic story telling comedy.

Although Ben Elton has a rich history of writing award winning comedy (‘The Young Ones’, ‘The Thin Blue Line’ and ‘Blackadder’) and a successful career as a novelist, screenwriter, and film director, he became best known as a central figure in the alternative comedy scene of the eighties with his vitriolic political outbursts. His popularity has continually grown since then with sell-out tours and his own TV shows (‘The Ben Elton Show’ and ‘The Man from Auntie’) to add to his ever growing resume.

With Elton's well established leftist views this warm up performance captured him at his most raw and politically fuelled best.

“There is nothing, absolutely nothing to beat Ben Elton live!”
London Evening Standard
“Just give him a stage and a microphone and Ben Elton is simply the best. No contest.”
The Sunday Times
