THE BLUE HOURS Hosted by Barb Jungr
Acclaimed cabarettist Barb Jungr, winner of New York's prestigious Backstage 2003 International Artist of the Year award for cabaret, hosted a new monthly night at New Greenham Arts. Inspired by her successful Café Prague night in Brighton, Barb introduces guests who'll entertain with a wide mix of European cabaret muusic.
May's Blue Hours featured singer / songwriter Philip Jeays. Philip has been described as a very English and intense version of Jacques Brel and his songs are catchy, toe-tapping, humerous and sad in equal measures. With scant regard for the current pop idol culture, Philip passed comment on love, death and war, and sometimes friends more successful than him!
A true showman - all fluttering eyelashes and salacious wickedness - with the ability to swing from sarcasm to aching romanticism in the space of a heartbeat. The Stage |
