The Open Studios Scheme

The Open Studios 'Insight' exhibition came once again to NGA, to coincide with Newbury Spring Festival. Over 100 local artists opened their studios to the public, including the Studio 8 artists based at NGA. The exhibition gave a cameo of all the artists involved in the scheme, and works included painting, drawing, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, installation and jewellery. This year's Open Studios programme also featured a residency at the Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre involving two NGA former residents, Newbury Contemporary Dance Company and Studio 8 artist Maureen Riley. 'Cascade: Birds and Mythology' was inspired by the lake and water birds at the Nature Centre.

The Open Studios illustrated brochure gave travel directions, maps and opening times for all the studios in the Scheme.
