“When travelling in Western Australia I realised that Perth resembled the background scenes to Grand Theft Auto Vice City”. Fascinated by this Srinivas used photography and video to gather images of Perth and its surrounding landscape. “During this period I became aware of the few Aboriginal people I had seen. They appeared strangely displaced and somehow conspicuous in their difference. The idea for the work grew from my own identification with this notion of visual difference and the unsettling feeling it can create.”

The filmed images were manipulated to look like a computer game landscape. At the centre of the work Srinivas placed an animated 3D character - a personal avatar - to move through the landscape. The exhibition showed both the short film and also digital stills from the film.
