Malaysian born Mavin Khoo led his company of five dancers from around the globe in a synthesis of ballet and bharata natyam, the classical dance forms of Europe and India. Parallel Passions featured dances set to music from Bach to Handel, medieval Indian music to Madonna, and discussed the theme of love.

“To a traditional ballet-goer this is going to be exotic. To a trad South Asian dance fan this will be unprecedented” said spokesperson Tim Tubbs.
