'FAUST'
by puppet masters Basement Theatre of Georgia

In an asylum an old man dreams he is Faust. Travelling back to his youth, he relives his adventures with Mephisto, his love and betrayal of Gretchen, his duel with Valentin and his attempts to make amends. This version was raunchy, shocking and totally on the edge.

Director Levan Tsuladze is a major figure in Georgian theatre, having also directed work in the main Rustaveli Theatre. Puppet designer Nutsa Dolakidze is considered a national treasure for her creations of rod, string and hand puppets.

"Forget all your preconceptions of puppet theatre as something for the kids."
Michael Bewick, Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts Director
