'ART FROM THE MEDICAL LAB'

Studio 8 artist Sally Haynes produced art for three hospital departments as part of an art and healthcare collaborative project. Sally was commissioned to explore the working territory of three medical science teams. She had unprecedented access to view the behind-the-scenes work of staff in Radiology at Southampton general hospital, Wessex genetics laboratory at Salisbury district hospital and Pathology at St Mary's hospital Newport, Isle of Wight. This access enabled her to explore the images generated by the departments - from genetic codes to x-rays, and to produce original works of art that show how beautiful the world of medicine can be.
