'THE MAN WHO COMMITTED THOUGHT' Patrice Naiambana
An English-educated African lawyer, much attached to the Queen and Shakespeare, is caught up in a dangerous search for truth in war-torn post-colonial Lion Mountain. Mamadou, a determined peasant, fearlessly seeks justice for his beloved cow which has been eaten by a greedy dictator. Challenged by Mamadou's bravery, the initially indifferent lawyer embarks on a journey of self-examination, and commits thought.
Inspired by the courage and humour of the African people, Patrice Naiambana's five-character, one-man play explored the complex heart of a troubled continent. From playing Aslan in the RSC's production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Naiambana has created sardonic African theatre which was awarded an Edinburgh Fringe First in 1999.
