'LOOKOUT' by Claire Crofts, winner of the NGA Millennium Competition. The exhibition worked specifically with the site and experimented with real-time documentation. Claire uses the sky as metaphor for mystery, often presenting 'rational analysis' of that which is inevitably out of our control. The exhibition combined her interest in the sky with the presence found around the old military base - one rich with association and curiosity.
"Croft's apparent scientific enquiry is really a celebration of the mystery and awe of the unknowns of sky and weather. The introduction of references to Greenham and the connotations associated with observations in the context give the mystery of the sky a slightly sinister edge. This is what makes this exhibition so intriguing." Fiona Robinson, Newbury Weekly News |
