Alun Cochrane is a laid back comedian who makes his living chiefly by recounting everyday things. His comedy is warm and intelligent and has led to appearances on 'Just A Minute', 'Have I Got News For You' and 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks'. He is a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe with three consecutive highly acclaimed sell-out shows. This show will include jokes, thoughts and musings on everything from the mundane to the macabre.

Acclaimed cabarettist Barb Jungr, winner of New York's prestigious Backstage 2003 International Artist of the Year award for cabaret, hosts a monthly night at New Greenham Arts inspired by her successful Café Prague night in Brighton.
Barb Jungr is joined this month by singer-songwriter Rebecca Hollweg, returning to Greenham with mellow and country-tinged songs from her newly released second album 'Orange Roses'. She plays guitar accompanied by her husband and bass player Andy Hamill on double bass, electric bass and chromatic harmonica. Rebecca has supported Roger McGuinn (of The Byrds), and Paul Carrack (of Mike & the Mechanics and Squeeze) on their UK tours and has played regularly at London venues including the South Bank Centre, Ronnie Scott's and The Borderline. Rebecca charmed Greenham on her last visit, we are very happy to be bringing her sunny music back this spring.

A regular series of events hosted by The Mandolinquents. Each month Britain's first modern mandolin quartet are inviting some of the finest folk and world musicians in the UK today to join them for their series of intimate gigs featuring musical virtuosity and humour.
Excellent, exhilarating and something completely different! Plastikes Karekles (Plastic Chairs) is a Greek folk group with an impressive pedigree of rousing performances in prestigious venues. Their sound is rooted in traditional Greek culture and music: uniquely and distinctly Greek but also a fusion of Western and European influences and cultures. As well as traditional Greek instruments they also feature an accordion, violin, guitar and vocals. This fun-filled evening will get you singing, clapping and dancing on the tables!

'LADIES WHO LUNCH' Newbury Dramatic Society

Amelia, Rachel and Joane, wives of three of the world's riches men, meet regularly to continue their charity work for Save Our Starving, despite the fact that they are based in London, New York and Sydney respectively. In order to increase the charity's turnover Amelia, a modern-day Robin Hood, thinks up a scheme to play the stock market. The target is a hundred million pounds and they have almost reached it when the regulatory authorities arrive. Things turn nasty and their husbands engage in a little investigation themselves. The resulting showdown is not the walk-over the men had planned!

The Mandolinquents are joined by Camilla Pay, one of the UK's leading young classical harpists. Camilla graced the 2006 World Music Awards with Enya and was Sir James Galway's accompanist at the 2005 Classical Brit Awards. Camilla is joined on clarinet by Nick Ellis, himself no stranger to the popular music scene as well as the classical platform. He has performed with Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) and Sir Elton John as well as with numerous symphony orchestras around the world.

Barb Jungr's guest is the stunning British singer songwriter and guitarist Robb Johnson, with Roger Watson on melodeon and young highly talented multi-instrumentalist Tom Fairbairn on violin and keyboard. Together they will perform Johnson's characteristically maverick mix of post-punk roots 'n' English chanson. Robb has garnered extraordinary and rave reviews for his songwriting over the years, his maverick talent, political awareness and lyrical work simply gets better and better. Robb has been one of Brel's best translators in the UK, and returns to Greenham with his best work to date.

Up Close and Personal - a cabaret style evening with John Watts, Nina Mccann and guests. John Watts was originally the mastermind of Fischer-Z, contemporaries of the Police and XTC. Watts has amassed a considerable body of creative work since, encompassing written word, poetry and humour as easily as rap-scape, rare groove and indie guitar influences. Nina Mccann is a songwriter who is not a crowd follower but is establishing her own musical identity. A good voice with honest melodies fused together with a rolling acoustic guitar epitomises what Nina is all about.

As Midsummer approaches The Mandolinquents host a special evening of musical magic, mayhem and hilarity. For the second half Hilary James emerges from behind her magnificent mandobass to take centre stage with songs from her new, hot-off-the-press CD. Hilary's singing has received much acclaim: quintessentially English but easily crossing the great musical divides from British ballads to blues and Berlioz. She'll be joined by a few surprise guests.

Barb Jungr is joined this month by folk singer Reg Meuross. Reg's New Album "Dragonfly", released in February 08, is largely a collection of story songs written by Reg from stories collected during his recent English Rural Touring Project. Reg was a surprise hit at the Blue Hours 18 months ago, with his superb voice, stunning songs and fabulous humour. He has carved a unique career working alongside some of the top names in acoustic music in Britain and has had a longstanding collaboration with Hank Wangford.

The action of the play takes place in an English country house from Saturday morning to Monday morning. Believing it is his mission in life to make women happy by showering them with love, Norman makes the most of every opportunity to seduce his sister-in-law Annie, charm his brother-in-law's wife Sarah and woo his wife Ruth.

'THE ROSES OF EYAM' Shining Lights Youth Theatre

Following their work with South African Theatre Company K-CAP, Shining Lights present a reworking of The Roses of Eyam, which tells the remarkable and true story of a village stricken with plague, after the arrival of a contaminated box of clothing. It tells the tale of the villagers' determination, under persuasions of the present and former rector, to prevent the spread of the disease at the risk of their own lives. A heart-warming account of human tragedy, idealism and courage.
